Maternity and Paternity benefit are benefits provided under sickness insurance. Competent authority is the Czech Social Security Administration (CSSA, "ČSSZ" in Czech). Parental allowance is paid from state social support and is provided by the Labour Office.

Spouse of the soon-to-be mother is entitled to be excused from work to transfer her to the medical facility and back (and to be present in the childbirth). He also may take father's parental leave for 14 days (if father of the child) and get paternal benefit. For more info on all these topics, see section Personal Obstacles to Work.
