Vojtěch Tláskal is a postdoc since 2021 and he is investigating the role of methanotrophic and nitrifying bacteria in temperate and boreal peatlands and in saline-alkaline lakes. The goal of his current research is to quantify the activity and diversity of these cryptic groups of microorganisms, which may fundamentally influence greenhouse gas production from soil/sediment environments. Through his collaboration with international teams, he is involved in research on the impact of warming on microbial communities in Iceland. In his work he is focusing on basic science with environmental and ecological aspects through field work and state-of-the-art ‘omics methods. In a team at Radboud University he is involved in research on novel metabolic pathways in microorganisms using anaerobic cultivation and electromicrobiology. 2023 – CSP New Investigator project, DOE JGI, USA: Uncovering the functional potential and interactions of carbon and nitrogen cycling microorganisms adapted to an extreme habitat 2023 – 2026 Postdoc Individual Fellowship – Outgoing, Czech Science Foundation, 23-07434O: TIMPAOMP project - The IMPortance of Anaerobic Oxidation of Methane in Peatlands ORCID: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2924-9470Research interests
